5 Reasons To Have A Micro-Wedding

To start, let's confirm what a micro wedding is:

A micro wedding usually refers to a wedding of 50 guests or lower! However, these numbers do vary. These intimate weddings took off after covid and the legal need to reduce your guest list.

We attended our first micro wedding in 2022 and it was definitely a day we won’t forget. After the ceremony, we went to the couple's house where the first dance was in their garden and everyone ordered and enjoyed a pizza around the kitchen table!

Here are just a few reasons we think opting for a smaller guest list can be a really great choice when planning your wedding day.

Your budget will go further

Reducing the guest list means a higher budget for your venue, fewer mouths to feed, and more money to spare. This can be reinvested into the details! You could splash out on more expensive vendors, buy the dress of your dreams, and invest in the personalisation of your wedding day.

Be true to yourselves

Expectations can limit your freedom on your wedding day: family politics, extensive guest lists, plus ones you haven’t met before… this can mean your wedding day is more focused on others than on yourselves. Reducing the guest list will allow you to prioritise the elements you love and remove elements you don’t!

Spend more time with your guests

This is one of our favourite benefits of choosing a micro wedding. A wedding is all about the people you love and being able to share the biggest day of your life with them. Reducing a large guest list to just 20 or so people will give you more time to chat and spend time with them all individually.

A micro wedding can reduce stress

Not only will a micro wedding feel more casual, but you will also reduce your stress levels! You won’t have to worry over seating arrangements or having to split yourself equally between everyone on your wedding day. On top of all that, you can reduce the planning time. Caterers will need a smaller lead time for a smaller guest list which may allow you to bring the date forward.

Spend more on your honeymoon!

The budget you saved earlier? Why not spend it on your honeymoon?! Have a longer holiday, book something more luxurious, or travel further afield with the money saved from planning a mirco wedding.
